Join our TERJA Community Unity Story Exchange Program
Why ?
Today’s workplace and neighborhood communities face the growing challenge of connecting diverse people and their viewpoints into a cohesive and constructive way of operating. Instead, employees, students, and customers struggle to communicate in ways where they can hear each other. As a result, we miss opportunities for consensus and effective problem-solving.
- All children need to be seen and heard
- All children need the opportunity to see and hear others
- All children’s concerns and issues need to be taken seriously
Through interactive learning and immersion experiences, students and adults gain the ability to engage in authentic, mindful communication.
What ?
TERJA Community Unity Story Exchange Video Project is a TERJA Foundation program that elevates students’ stories by opening a social impact video portal to global visibility and connection. The objective – to hear and be heard. We facilitate and engage students and other mentors from different communities, even world hemispheres apart, in this innovative experiential learning that results in authentic communication immersion.
How ?
- We partner students, classrooms, schools, and organizations in the United States with students in other communities in the United States and in other parts of the world.
- We facilitate the video-sharing of stories about themselves and their communities.
- The range of story topics opens an infinite window into participants’ life experiences and their communities –
What is the impact?
As students participate in this story exchange project
- Their creativity flows as they tell and listen to true stories of authentic experiences.
- They gain perspective into the lives of other people in other communities that may be different from their own
- They learn to accept and embrace these different perspectives to solve significant problems that make a difference in the community and the world.
- They engage with others on a creative path to take social action by working together to build bridges that connect people to prevent and solve local, community, and global situations that impact everyone.
- They gain the evidence-based skills needed to effectively communicate and share their stories in a productive, give-and-take
- This ability to communicate well, truly listen, and effectively interpret, process, and engage with each other translates to the potential for sustainable development.
- They gain transferable psycho-social skills that enhance their lives and their futures
