Literacy is crucial in disadvantaged communities because it empowers individuals to access information, improve their livelihoods, and participate fully in society.

However, achieving literacy in these communities is challenging due to Limited access to educational resources such as books. These communities need literacy programs and initiatives that help individuals to acquire reading and writing skills.

At Namasanda School in rural Kenya, the TERJA storytellers are tackling the challenge of literacy head-on. “They’re creating a mobile library for both the school and the community, aiming to bring the world of books to every doorstep.”

“Their innovative solution? A mobile donkey library that travels around the village, allowing children to select and exchange books.”
